Melindaou mountain

Melindaou is one of the high peaks of the White Mountains in Chania and forms part of the wild alpine landscape surrounding the central mountain desert. The surrounding terrain is dominated by limestone, deep depressions and largely treeless high-altitude slopes characteristic of the Lefka Ori. The area is remote and should be approached as a mountaineering destination rather than a conventional visitor attraction. Hiking in this part of the range requires appropriate equipment, navigation skills and careful attention to weather conditions.
