Description
The Kiliaris River Valley is a green and fertile landscape in the Apokoronas area, east of Chania on the island of Crete. It follows the course of the Kiliaris River as it flows from the White Mountains down toward the coast near Kalyves. The valley is known for its dense vegetation, including plane trees, reeds, and riparian forests that thrive due to the constant water supply. This habitat supports a rich variety of wildlife, especially birds, amphibians, and insects, making it an important ecological corridor. Overall, the Kiliaris River Valley stands out as one of the greener and more biodiverse natural areas in northern Crete.
