Description
The coastal area near Maleme in northern Chania features sandy beaches, rocky shores, and small coves. These habitats support marine life such as fish, crabs, and mollusks, while seabirds like gulls and terns are common along the shore. Coastal scrub and dunes provide shelter for lizards, insects, and small mammals, and flowering plants attract pollinators. The mix of marine and terrestrial environments makes the Maleme coastlines an important area for observing wildlife.
