Description
Imbros is a traditional mountain village in Sfakia, located at an elevation of approximately 780 metres on the road connecting northern Chania with Chora Sfakion. The village is surrounded by the rugged landscape of the White Mountains and is particularly famous as the northern starting point of Imbros Gorge. Its strategic position on the historic route across the mountains has given Imbros an important role in local history, while today it is primarily known as a base for hikers. Traditional tavernas and the cooler mountain climate make it a pleasant stop before or after exploring the gorge.
