Description
Agia Lake is a small artificial freshwater lake near the city of Chania that has become an important wildlife observation site. It is especially known for its birdlife, attracting species such as herons, ducks, coots, and various migratory birds throughout the year. The surrounding reeds and wetlands create a sheltered habitat that supports nesting and feeding areas for wildlife. Despite its modest size, it is considered one of the most reliable birdwatching spots in western Crete. The lake is also easily accessible, making it a popular location for both researchers and casual nature observers.
