Argoules

Argoules is a small semi-mountainous village at approximately 120 metres above sea level, situated at the eastern entrance to Sfakia close to the border between the Chania and Rethymno regional units. The settlement is surrounded by old olive groves and enjoys open views towards the Libyan Sea. The exit of Argouliano Gorge lies near the village, while the surrounding area is also associated with the observation of rare birds of prey. Remains of an old Venetian watermill can be found east of the settlement. Argoules retains a peaceful rural atmosphere shaped by livestock farming, olive cultivation and the dramatic landscape of southern Crete.
