Description
Gavdos is the southernmost inhabited island in Europe and is known for its untouched landscapes, cedar forests, and remote sandy beaches. The island supports a rich variety of wildlife, including migratory birds that stop there during their journeys between Europe and Africa. Its rocky coasts and clear waters provide habitats for marine species such as sea turtles, fish, and Mediterranean monk seals. Gavdos is also home to unique plant species adapted to the dry climate, including juniper trees and aromatic herbs. Because of its isolation and limited development, the island remains an important refuge for wildlife and a valuable area for ecological observation.
