Chora Sfakion (Hora Sfakion)

Chora Sfakion, also known as Hora Sfakion or simply Sfakia, is the main coastal settlement and administrative centre of the Municipality of Sfakia. Built around a small harbour on the Libyan Sea and surrounded by the steep mass of the White Mountains, the village occupies one of the most dramatic coastal settings in Crete. It is an important transport hub for southern Chania, with boats connecting it to Loutro, Agia Roumeli and other settlements that cannot be reached directly by road. The waterfront features traditional tavernas, cafés and accommodation, while the village serves as an excellent base for exploring the gorges, beaches and mountain landscapes of Sfakia.
